Pescadero Camping

Went camping along the coast this past weekend.  KOA Costanoa was a nice campground to stay at.  The campground has everything you need, a restaurant, Wi-Fi, Sauna, hiking trails to the beach.  Hey, they even have a day spa where you can get a massage.  We didn't get one this time but perhaps next time.  We've already planned another trip to go back because we had such a great time.  Oh, if you ever go to Pescadero, you simply MUST go to Duartes for some of their famous Artichoke Soup and homemade pies.  Yum.  It seems that all we do is eat when we go camping; back to my diet.  ;D

Heading out on our morning hike.

Golden grass.

Passing by.

Soaring pelicans.

Golden puff balls.

Magnificent view.

Yard

Michael finished the brick pathways today.  I worked on packaging a couple of shipments; one of which is bound for Australia, I also sanded, primed and painted our Adirondack furniture for the yard.  The new color I picked for the repaint job on those pieces is a minty type green which looks so clean and fresh and cheerful.  Tomorrow I will get some new shots of the yard.

We'll be heading to the nursery in a few weeks to pick out some plants and I'll be sure to post what we get.  ;D

More work and a little relaxation.

We worked on some orders today, ready for shipment!  Michael did some more path digging and a little relaxing.
Little digging.
Little sleeping.
Little togetherness.

Backyard Progress

PG&E is going to take out the big pine tree sometime around Nov. or Dec. for us.  Yippee!  The ivy is out, the new fence in and the work going on right now is laying down the brick paths.  Michael has been removing our brick patio and making paths in the yard.  Scattered around between the paths will be some lovely flowering plants one of which will be my favorite: hydrangeas.  Whatever we put in the ground will have to love shade and will help soften the edges of the path.  We want to plant a Japanese Maple Tree somewhere in the garden.

Once all the bricks are off the concrete patio we'll decide what we'll do about that area.  Not sure if we'll just clean it up and repair the cracks or what.  One thing that we'll be doing against the house is putting in a planter for me to grow some tomatoes and things.  It's an area that gets lots of sunshine.

A state of disarray.

Path leading from table around the yard towards shed and hammock.

Path from table to various parts of the yard. Can you see the hammock against the fence?
We cannot wait to have this part completed.  Once we get the paths in we can focus on tilling up the grass, putting some nutrition back into the soil, purchasing plants, planting them and then on to the patio.  By the time we're done with all this it should be close to winter when PG&E promised they'll take out the tree for us.  And for them.  It's going to save them time and money as well from not having to cut it back from the high voltage lines every year.

Then we'll be on to building our new shed.  Michael has already drawn up the plans and it's going to be so cute.  Just wait till you see it.  It's going to have old windows (already purchased) and handcrafted shutters on each side.  The door is going to be just as sweet.  Almost like a little cottage in Carmel.  Almost.

Disney Barber Pole

Here's a picture of our barber pole that the set designer for Disney ordered from us to go with the new set he designed for Disney.  This is a picture of our pole on their new set location.

A little rest
Our 5th wheel in tow, we drove to Carmel for the weekend.  Friday night had dinner with Tom and Patti.  A lovely little visit and of course, I had grilled salmon.  I even had a Lemon Drop cocktail.  Delicious.  Woke up early Saturday morning and drove out to Carmel Valley to an antique flea market that was going on.  Stopped at quite a few yard sales along the way.  Found lots of great little treasures and trinkets.

Later in the afternoon we drove to our favorite little deli to grab some picnic goodies and headed to the beach for some down time.  Our lovely picnic grabbed the attention of some little scavengers begging for a bite or two.  I think most of my chips ended up in their tummies.

Hot and Tired

It's officially summer, no more rain for now and the heat is upon us.  Michael finished up some orders and then worked in the backyard most of the day while I had to figure out what was the reason we didn't have internet on the new laptop.  I love Mac!  Just got my first laptop; a MacBook Pro and I'm loving it.

Went online last night and ordered a slip case and a carry case to protect it and as soon as they come in the mail I'll post a picture of how pretty my MacBook looks.

Have some new features on this Mac that my other one doesn't have so when I have some free time I'll have to explore.

We might go to see a movie on the Fourth if there is anything worth seeing.  Haven't kept up with the theater movies of late and we really don't want to be on the road that day and will be sticking close to home.
