Natchitoches

Natchitoches
We left the foothills of the Ozarks, Fort Smith, AR, early in the morning for a six plus hour drive to Natchitoches, LA. (pronounced: Nak a dish) after an old Indian Tribe name.  Say it fast, Nakadish.  The D sounding almost like a T.  I learned that Natchitoches is the most difficult U.S. city name to pronounce.

Hay bales in the surrounding countryside of Natchitoches.
We hurried and drove out to Oakland Plantation hoping to catch it before closing but was too late.  Had to grab these pictures from behind the locked chain link fence.
Slave Shacks.
