An unexpected disappointment.

Yesterday I went into the backyard to prep the outer windows to the enclosed back porch for painting.
Looking towards the enclosed back porch.
See the pretty decorative trim Mike painted red for me?  Just the right touch.

Back to my story.  So as I'm scraping and washing down the woodwork I come upon some dry rot.  See below.
This is a little set back to say the least.  Now I have to wait until this work (removing the windows and replacing the framing and trim) is finished and will have to repaint the inside window trim and be able to finally paint the outer trim to finish this project once and for all.

At least it's fixable.  Everything can be fixed, it sometimes might take a little longer than planned.  One thing we're going to have to fix in order to prevent the rot from happening again is to put in a drip system.  Otherwise, the sprinkler system will continue getting the outer wall to this porch wet and we'll have this same problem all over again in a few years time.
In the meantime, aren't these two cutie pies an unexpected delight?  And how about this little doll?
We're happy to have birds fly into the yard to bathe in our Three Graces fountain.  Blue jays, red breasted robins, finches and hummingbirds come here every day to splash around.
