Some of our Favorites

Island at War
Michael and I love to watch BBC mini series and shows such as Downton Abbey and Mr. Selfridge.
Such excellent script writing, acting and photography.  Island at War is about the German Occupation of the Channel Islands which is just off the coast of France and centers around three families.
Land Girls
Catherine Cookson, The Dwelling Place
Actually, we love every single Catherine Cookson movie.  See the list here:  Catherine Cookson.
You can find them on Netflix.  They are all wonderful movies and we've seen them all and will watch them again.

Another favorite, which is so very good:
2005 Bleak House

Floating Wall Shelf

Our shelf hung low for home decor.  Could be used to serve plates of dessert, like a buffet.

Gardening

Yesterday Aunt Yvonne took us to this nursery with these amazing 400 year old oak trees spread throughout the property.  I drove my little car down there so we weren't able to buy anything but plan on going back in the early fall with our truck.  This nursery is the most organized one I've ever been to with an extensive variety of plants to choose from with master gardeners to help guide you.

Irish Beach Weekend Getaway

We spent the weekend on the coast with the old gang.  Yesterday morning, Michael and Don drove down to the beach and captured these shots.
Someone built a fort in the rock.
They found a decaying shark.
Our old neighborhood and friends in Irish Beach planned a progressive dinner party, and our friends, Don and Pam, invited us to stay with them in their beautiful home on the coast for the weekend. Lucky us.
Mike (to the far left), Don, Pam and Roger getting ready to go.  Pouring our glasses of wine.
4 pm and off we go...
First stop, Rich and Nancy's place for appetizers.  Nancy put out quite a little spread.
Conversations.
Strolling to the the next stop: Salad at Don and Pam's place.
Mingling.
Making our way to the main course at Marsha and Jack's home.
Pink Naked Ladies.
Meandering and taking our time.  It's a slow, relaxed evening with friends.
Looking out Marsha's kitchen window.
Jack and Marsha, a delightful couple.
Marsha's delicious lasagna.
A perfect spot to soak up some sun, read a book or simply relax and listen to the ocean and birds.
A seating arrangement set up below deck.
Jack has a smile that makes your heart melt.
Nothing could be better than ending the evening at Sonja's for dessert.  The evening went smoothly and was perfectly paced.  I think it's safe to say that everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

The Giant Mechanical Man

We watched this little indie film last night which is a quirky romantic comedy.  It's a quiet and slow paced movie about two lonely people struggling to find their way in the world and whom somehow manage to find each other.

Janice is down on her luck.  She loses her job as a temp worker and ends up having to move in with her overbearing and supposedly successful younger sister, Jill, and her husband.  Jill continues to exasperatingly belittle Janice and this contributes to Janice's feelings of insecurity and worthlessness.

Tim is a bit of an aimless street mime performer and has his own set of problems to deal with, namely, his girlfriend that no longer wants to hang around and support his 'career' as a street performer that wears stilts and silver face paint and metallic garb.

Enter a self absorbed, self help guru author that tries to impress Janice with his so called wisdom and wit but unbeknownst to him, ends up boring her instead.  Thank goodness she sees right through him.

We enjoyed the movie.
