Letters From Paris

What a fabulous idea, Janice, has come up with!  In our current times, the notion of sitting down and writing by hand a (legible) letter or note to someone is sadly becoming a thing of the past.  The age of computers and spell check and texts and emails is making letter writing a lost art form.  In fact, the children of today, many of them, have poor penmanship.  Mostly because the schools are either not teaching it or are not demanding neat, legible handwriting.  A simple thing such as this, that we have probably taken for granted and which used to be a very common skill, is fading away from society.

A handwritten letter from Paris to you or as a wonderful gift to someone special.  Not only does Janice send a letter, she writes it on a hand painted, original watercolor drawing which is a work of art in itself.  I think she's very clever for having thought of this and wish her all the best.

How about this as a gift to a child who hasn't experienced the thrill and excitement associated with receiving something hand written and addressed specifically to them, in their mailbox, not the inbox.

I bought this print in San Francisco from Maggie Hurley on Sunday.  Isn't he adorable?  I'm going to crawl up in the attic to see if I can find my miniature easel to display it.  Maggie has the cutest artwork.  She's also written a couple of adorable children's books and she has another shop here.

Barber Pole and Buffet Table

Drove to Palo Alto this morning to deliver the barber pole that Facebook purchased from us:

This is handcrafted by Michael and hand painted and distressed by yours truly.

This barber pole is going to be at the new barber shop on the Facebook campus.  They're still working on the building and plan on opening the barber shop up in a couple of months.  We're going to head over there to meet the new barbers and see their new campus when it opens.

Then we drove to Hayward to grout the tile on Aunt Yvonne's table and she had her dishes all displayed on it.  Isn't it pretty?  I want one!

Dress Season

Hopefully, I can begin sewing again as soon as I have some free time.  Aren't these cute dress patterns?  I really like that coat dress.  Shopping for fabric to make these will be fun and most likely I'll find some more patterns while I'm browsing!  I can easily lose myself in the fabric store and before I know it two or three hours have gone by.

I slit my leg with the sheet rock knife this afternoon while boxing up an order.  Cut all the way through the flesh and took a bit to stop the bleeding.  I could have used a few stitches but didn't want to go to the doctor but did have to get a tetanus shot because I was long overdue.  Thankfully I didn't have to wait for that, they got me right in.  If I had gone to get stitches that could have taken up to two hours waiting and I sure wasn't about to do that so I taped it up with butterfly bandages.  Seems to be holding.
