California Coastal Clean Up Day - Adventures

Today was the annual California Coastal Clean Up Day
and it was our first time volunteering for this and was a learning experience.  You wouldn't believe the trash we picked up between the two of us.  Five bags full and one very long piece of discarded thick rope that I found hidden under some brush near the water.

We also found some pretty disgusting stuff along the way which we disposed of.  People, please use the trash cans!  Why throw things on the ground and litter?  Let's keep California (and our country and our world) clean and beautiful.  Do your part.  If you are eating a candy bar or drinking a soda (or whatever!) walking along the trail, why not just hold onto it or stick it in your pocket and wait until you find a trash can?  They have plenty of trash cans throughout the area.  Why do you have to discard things in the bushes or on the path or in the water?

One area we found, where the fishermen park their vehicles, there was so much trash in front of their cars and trucks.  Empty beer cans and bottles, cigarette butts, cartons of twelve packs left behind and numerous plastic bags and stuff.  Shame on them.

After we were finished picking up trash we drove to Crockett to scout out the area for our paint out tomorrow.  I couldn't find anything that interested me downtown but we kept driving and found about six really good spots to paint tomorrow so we're excited about that.

While scouting around we ended up in charming Port Costa and explored by foot (it's a very small town) and had a bite to eat at a new place we discovered.  I cannot wait to go back there when the weather turns a bit cooler because then they will start serving their famous hot cocoa with ganache again.  They make the most yummy homemade cornbread, biscuits, shortbread that I've ever had sweetened with honey and have exotic roasted coffee for the coffee lovers.
