What We Did Today

Today was a fun day for us.  First of all we got to sleep in.  After breakfast we decided to play.  I spent the day painting some pictures and Mike welded some railroad spike people.

Before I started painting, Michael took me to the donut shop to see if I could find anything pretty.  All we came home with was a dozen donut holes that didn't last very long.
Yummy donut holes.
 Donut step one.
 Maple Glazed Donut.
 Cupcake in process.
 With a Cherry on Top.
Cake step one.
Buttermilk Layered Cake with Pink Frosting.
 Frosting detail.

Mike welding the skateboarder dude.
Dancing Couple to be listed later.

To finish the day, I made a stir fry dinner.  Next time I make it, I'll have Mike video tape me and I'll talk.  He said I should have talked about what I was doing.  Next time.  I'll give my recipe, too.  I kind of make things up by what is on hand.  The gravy makes it though.  So yummy.  Easy, too.

Old Kitchen - New Kitchen - Our Remodel Project

This year we remodeled our family room and then we recently finished one of our biggest projects in our home, our kitchen.  We completely changed the layout of our kitchen as you'll see from the pictures below.

Kitchen Update

In the above video, you'll see the first wall of cabinets is almost finished.  I begin with the double ovens, below is a large drawer and above are my baking pans and cookie sheets all organized and within easy reach.  This upper cabinet will get double doors that will match the built in spice rack door which is green except the doors here will get the charcoal color.

Next to that is the refrigerator tucked into the wall three inches and above that is an open shelf for my cookbooks and special silverware box.

To the right of the frig is a rustic old wood baker's pastry table which will have a soapstone counter top.  Above that is a cabinet painted green which will get glass doors.

Next up I show the built in spice cabinet with the rustic green door.

The sink wall will have two banks of drawers to the left and then the dishwasher and soapstone sink and to the right of the sink will be another large bank of drawers.

To the left and right of the sink window will be rustic old wood open shelving.

In the middle of the room is a cooktop island which will have a breakfast counter with stools tucked underneath.

I'm very excited for this to be finished!  By the way, Michael is doing an outstanding job on the cabinets even though things might be a bit crooked or uneven here or there!  Haha

But they're beautiful!

I will be sure to get more pictures or videos as it comes along.  ;-)
