We recently sold this barber pole and I just found out that it's for a museum in Illinois.  Here's the link to the museum where it's being installed.  It's all finished and we're shipping it out this afternoon. 

Mike makes the barber poles and I paint the stripes on and do all the finish work. 

As far as big names goes, so far, we've sold a pole to Disney and to Facebook.  Here's the commercial that our Disney pole is on.  Our barber pole is near the end of this commercial, it's right behind the old guy reading the paper on the bench.  The set with brick buildings is a faux set that Disney created with the help of a set design company.

See the great big ball on top?  Mike carved that 9 inch ball by hand.  He's pretty amazing.

A couple of years ago, Michael's antique spinning 'Marvy' barber pole was stolen from in front of his barber shop.  So, he made this barber pole to replace it.  Like so many of our escapades, this one blossomed into a little business.  We began selling them on Ebay and then opened up an Etsy shop, Mike's Barber Poles.

Soon after starting out on Etsy we got a request from a set designer working on a new film set for Disney.  And thus, our Disney Barber Pole, which has been seen in a Geico Motorcycle Insurance commercial.  

Last year, Facebook bought a large barber pole from us for their new barbershop on the campus.

Below is our most recent barber pole that was a custom order for a new barbershop opening up in Springfield, Missouri.  Designed after our 'Original Barber Pole' this one is a little more hefty, sporting 6 inch hand carved wooden balls on each end, the barrel itself is 7 inches in diameter.

While watching one of our favorite shows tonight, Counting Cars on the History Channel, aka: Danny of Count's Kustoms, a Geico Motorcycle commercial came on and Mike said to me, "Check out that cool barber pole."  I said, "That's our pole, it's the one that Casey bought for the Disney set."

I paused the t.v. to capture the picture of it.  We thought our pole would only be for Disney related shows but it looks like our barber pole can be in any kind of show, movie or commercial.  How cool to see something you made on t.v. being used as a prop.  We're thrilled!

Drove to Palo Alto this morning to deliver the barber pole that Facebook purchased from us:

This is handcrafted by Michael and hand painted and distressed by yours truly.

This barber pole is going to be at the new barber shop on the Facebook campus.  They're still working on the building and plan on opening the barber shop up in a couple of months.  We're going to head over there to meet the new barbers and see their new campus when it opens.

Then we drove to Hayward to grout the tile on Aunt Yvonne's table and she had her dishes all displayed on it.  Isn't it pretty?  I want one!
